Privacy

When you choose a file, your browser opens it, listens to it and fixes it right there on your computer or phone. The file is never sent to our servers or anyone else's. We never see it, store it or hear it.

The code that handles audio is not allowed to make network requests, and automated checks in our codebase block any change that tries.

Some fixes need extra code, such as a noise model. Your browser downloads it from us after you pick a file. That download only goes one way: to you. When you close the tab, the audio is gone from memory. We can't recover it for you, so keep your original file.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which fixes people use, so we know what to improve. It runs only on fix.fm itself, not on test versions of the site. Google Analytics collects:

• the pages you visit and the site that sent you here
• your rough location (country and city), worked out by Google from your IP address
• your device type, browser, screen size and language

When you use the tool, we also send these events:

• how you picked a file: dropped it, chose it, or tried a sample
• if a file couldn't be opened, and a general reason such as "file too large"
• how many problems we found and which one was worst
• which fix you ran and how long it took
• the setting of the amount knob, and the format you downloaded (WAV or MP3)

We never send your audio, file names, or anything said in your recording. The list above is enforced in code: each event can only carry the fields shown.

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on fix.fm:

• _ga tells one visit from another.
• _ga_4F74MMFDE1 keeps track of the current session.

Both hold a random ID, not your name or email, and expire after up to two years. We don't set advertising cookies and we don't show ads.

Everything on fix.fm works without analytics. To turn it off, you can:

• block cookies for fix.fm in your browser settings
• use a content blocker that blocks Google Analytics
• install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on

Clearing cookies for fix.fm removes the random ID from your browser.

fix.fm is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it handles basic request details, such as your IP address, browser and the page you asked for, so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These details are kept in short-lived server logs.

Our fonts are served from fix.fm itself, so your browser doesn't contact a font service.

Only the services named above: Google for analytics and Vercel for hosting. We don't sell data, and we don't share it with advertisers.

Links to other sites, including our sister site tonal.fm, lead to pages with their own privacy policies.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it's used.

We don't have accounts, so we hold nothing with your name on it. Analytics data is linked to the random cookie ID, not to you. To exercise a right, or if you have a question, email hello@fix.fm. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

fix.fm is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
