A free Auphonic alternative
Auphonic is a great podcast processor, but it uploads your file, gives you 2 free hours a month and adds a jingle. fix.fm finds what's wrong and fixes it right here in your browser, with no limit.
Never uploaded. Everything runs in your browser.

When Auphonic is the better pick
- Several people on separate mics, or a show with music. Its leveler balances the voices against each other, and multitrack mixes them.
- You need an exact loudness target, or need loud audio turned down. fix.fm only turns quiet audio up.
- You publish every week and want it hands off: saved presets, and finished files sent on to your host.
- You want transcripts and chapters from the same upload, on a paid plan.
When fix.fm is
- The audio is private: interviews, client calls, anything under an NDA. It never leaves your computer.
- You have more than 2 hours to fix this month, and you don't want a jingle on it.
- There's one clear problem, like hum, wind, clicks, clipping or a voice in one ear, and you want just that fixed.
- You want to know what went wrong, so the next recording comes out better.
- You don't want another account for a file you fix once.

Questions
Is fix.fm a free Auphonic alternative?
For fixing one recording, yes: echo, noise, hum, clicks, a quiet voice and more, with no account, no monthly hours and no jingle. For producing a whole show with several mics, music and automatic publishing, Auphonic does more.
Does the Auphonic free plan add a jingle?
Yes. Its pricing page says productions of free users come with a jingle. Paid credits remove it. fix.fm never adds anything to your audio.
Can fix.fm make my podcast -16 LUFS?
If it's too quiet, yes. The level fix brings it up to -16 LUFS and keeps the peaks under -1 dBTP so nothing clips. It won't turn a loud file down. To check where a file stands first, use the free LUFS meter.
Is my audio private with fix.fm?
Yes. The file is read and fixed inside your browser, and the audio is never sent to us or anyone else. Auphonic processes files on its servers, so they have to be uploaded.
Can I use both?
Yes. Use fix.fm to find and fix a specific problem, like hum, wind or a voice in one ear, then let Auphonic level and publish the finished episode. Fixing those first saves Auphonic hours on files that would need a redo.
