A free Adobe Podcast alternative
Adobe's Enhance Speech is good, but it uploads your file, needs an account and caps you at an hour a day. fix.fm fixes echo, noise, hum and more right here in your browser, with no limit.

When Adobe is the better pick
- The recording is very rough: a phone across the room, a laptop mic in a tiled kitchen. Rebuilding the voice gets further than cleaning it.
- You want the polished radio sound on everything, and one button is all you want to press.
- You already pay for Adobe and don't mind the upload.
When fix.fm is
- The audio is private: interviews, client calls, anything under an NDA. It never leaves your computer.
- The file is longer than 30 minutes, or you have more than an hour to do today.
- You want to keep your own voice. It fixes what's wrong and leaves the rest alone, so it can't turn you into someone else.
- You want to know what went wrong, so the next recording comes out better.
- It's a video. Drop in the MP4 and take the fixed audio back to your editor.

Questions
Is fix.fm better than Adobe Podcast?
It depends on the recording. On a really bad one, like a phone in a tiled bathroom, Adobe's Enhance Speech usually gets closer to studio sound because it rebuilds the voice. On most recordings with one or two clear problems, fix.fm fixes those and keeps your real voice, without uploading anything or asking you to sign in.
Is fix.fm really free with no limits?
Yes. The fixing runs on your own computer, so there's no server time to ration. There's no account, no daily cap and no watermark. The only limit is what a browser tab can hold: files up to 60 minutes and 200 MB.
Why does Adobe Enhance Speech sometimes sound robotic?
It doesn't clean the old sound so much as make a new one from it. When the recording is very rough, it can guess wrong, which is when voices come out lispy, flat or a little artificial. On Premium, turning its strength down helps. fix.fm works on the sound you recorded, so it can't invent a voice, but it also can't rescue as much.
Can I use both?
Yes. Some people run a file through fix.fm first to see what's wrong, fix the simple things like level or one ear, and only send the hard ones to a heavier tool.
Is my audio private with fix.fm?
Yes. The file is read and fixed inside your browser, and the audio is never sent to us or anyone else. That matters for interviews, client calls and anything under an NDA.
